The Global Bioenergy Partnership (GBEP) is an international initiative established in 2005 as a response to a G8 mandate – renewed in the following G8 Summits – and is a forum where voluntary cooperation works towards consensus amongst governments, intergovernmental organisations and other partners in the areas of the sustainability of bioenergy and its contribution to climate change mitigation. It also provides a platform for sharing information and examples of good practice.
A branch of The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), this website focuses on climate change with emphasis on the physical evidence and data analysis. The mission of “Global Climate Change: Vital Signs of the Planet” is to provide the public with accurate and timely news and information about Earth’s changing climate, along with current data and visualizations, presented from the unique perspective of NASA, the world’s leading climate research agency.
GVEP works with local energy businesses to provide access to energy, where state or large utilities interventions are unlikely to reach. They help establish and grow small and medium size energy businesses in rural and poor peri-urban areas, so that there is lasting access to clean energy and an improvement in the quality of life of millions of people in developing countries. GVEP do this by providing energy businesses the enabling resources they need to take off and become self-sustaining.
